On Monday, May 6, 2024, we officially launched EightFold Farms DC with an unforgettable evening celebrating our first harvest of specialty mushrooms. Hosted at Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar, our launch party featured a Champagne networking hour followed by a multi-course dinner with thoughtfully curated wine pairings—all inspired by our inaugural crop of Lion’s Mane, Blue Oyster, and Shiitake mushrooms.
The evening brought together a vibrant mix of people who made this dream possible: the builders and designers behind our mobile, solar-powered mushroom farm; local entrepreneurs and community activists; Johns Hopkins Ward Infinity Fellows; and our close friends and family. It was a celebration of innovation, sustainability, and the power of community.
More than just a party, the event was a chance to share our journey—how we’re using urban agriculture to transform food access and economic opportunity in underserved neighborhoods. Guests learned about the health benefits of functional mushrooms, explored the story behind our off-grid farming model, and connected with others who are passionate about sustainable food systems.
This launch marks just the beginning. As Washington, DC’s first commercial urban mushroom farm, we’re growing more than mushrooms—we’re growing food to cultivate communities.
